Demolition
What is demolition?
Demolition is occasionally misinterpreted as a rough and disorganised profession that simply entails the ad hoc destruction of property. At Southside Demolition, this could not be further from the truth. We like to think of demolition as: ‘deconstruction: a thoroughly planned dismantlement of a piece of property.' By using Southside Demolition, you will have a guaranteed quality assured team of licensed professionals that respect your property, requirements and legal obligations, allowing you peace of mind from start to finish.
Southside Demolition and the Environment
We strive to recycle a variety of materials throughout each project, ultimately, this is immediately beneficial for our environment here in South East Queensland. The following are just a few of the more common materials we endeavour to recycle.
What do we recycle from demolition?
These are just a few of the materials that we recycle
Bricks & concrete
Bricks and concrete are transported to a concrete recycling plant where they are crushed and sorted for re-use in many applications including:
- Hardstands
- Under slab fill
- Bedding or backfill of large pipes
- Paths, driveways
- Drainage
Timber
While old timber from general buildings (wharfs, warehouses and railways etc.) seem past their used by date, Southside Demolition make every effort to transport and deliver such material to venues like timber yards, so that it may be prepared and reused for:
- Flooring
- Bench tops
- Decking
- Structural timber
- Furniture
- Doors
- Turned timber legs etc
Scrap metal
Southside Demolition employees are importantly trained in the identification of scrap metal. Scrap metal can be divided into two groups: ferrous and nonferrous. It is important that scrap metal be recycled for a number of different reasons, the foremost being that the recycling of metal is considerably better for the environment than to mine and process raw material. Other materials, such as timber that was not salvageable and vegetation that is cleared, will be sent to power stations (or similar) for burning to save the need of burning coal. It is our pleasure at Southside Demolition to assure you of best practice measures concerning the important role of recycling materials from each project to benefit the environment. We believe that by each relative business, small or large, becoming involved in smart recycling measures, there can be a positive impact for our environment both on a local and global level.
